:: Bali to Komodo Diving Liveaboard ::

Come
sailing on a beautiful traditional schooner that takes
you in splendid comfort into the remote eastern part of
the Indonesian archipelago and treat yourself to a
lifetime experience that you will never forget…
East of Bali there is a world of exotic cultures and
breathtaking natural beauty. This area is as enchanting
as it is remote. You will sail by smoldering volcanoes
that arise from the sea and you will go ashore on
uninhabited islands. Our leisure expeditions will take
you to quaint historic harbours, superb tropical
beaches, pristine coral reefs and to places where time
has literally been standing still, such as the last
remaining domain of the prehistoric Komodo dragon…

Travel
East of Bali
Travel into the eastern part of the Indonesian
archipelago is always an unforgettable and rewarding
experience and always an adventure, but unless one has
unlimited time it can be very frustrating as well. The
transportation infrastructure has not changed much in
the past fifty years and roads are usually in poor
condition. Ferries are often scary rust buckets and
departure schedules are always subject to the famous
Indonesian “Rubber Time” (or “Jam Karet”). At the end of
a day of travelling accommodation is always primitive.
Yet this vast area of beautiful sceneries and extremely
friendly people is one of the most charming parts of
Asia. It has an incredibly rich and varied cultural life
and wherever you go, you find yourself as safe as can
be.
Ombak Putih leisure expeditions to these out-of–the-way
islands east of Bali are the perfect solution and from
the very moment that you step aboard our traditional
wooden schooner you will know that you made the right
decision by booking a cruise.

The joy of being at sea
One of the greatest joys of being on the ocean is to
have the opportunity every very day of being able to see
the sun rise and to see the sun set. Modern life in the
city prevents us to witness what is always a
breathtaking symphony of colours, whether there are
clouds or not…The very best time of the day aboard ship
is what they call the ‘dog watch’, which includes the
magic moment when the day breaks and the sun reappears.

That time of the day on Ombak Putih there is always a
fresh pot of coffee ready and if you care to join the
crew on the bridge you will not miss that very special
moment…

Three
itineraries
Bali - Komodo
Leaving Bali at 9 in the morning your first day is spent
travelling and relaxing on board. The following day we
dive the Moyo and Santonda area before moving on to the
western outskirts of the Komodo National Park to dive at
Bima, Sangeang and Gili Banta. The rest of the trip is
spent entirely in northern, central and southern areas
the park diving the best sites available. On the final
morning guests depart at Labuhanbajo in Flores for the
quick trip to the airport to fly back to Bali.

Komodo - Bali
This itinerary, starting with a short morning flight
to Labuhanbajo, Flores, is basically a reverse of the
Bali-Komodo trip except there is normally a chance to
dive on the first day in the late afternoon. On certain
trips we also finish our diving on the island of Bali
itself, visiting either Nusa Penida (for Mola Mola in
season) or the shipwreck at Tulamben before heading back
into port at Benoa, Bali.

Flores - Alor - Flores
After a morning flight from Bali to Maumere in
Flores you will board the Komodo Dancer and immediately
set off east for some diving the next day on northern
Adonara and Lembata before carrying on into the Panta/Alor
strait to dive the norther, central and southern sites
of the area. We return either around the northern or
southern coasts of Pantar and end our trip diving some
of the spectacular sites on northern Flores and Maumere
bay. On the morning of departure you will be transferred
to the airport for the flight back to Bali.
