We have been safely cruising the waters around the Indonesian islands of Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo, Flores and even as far as south Sulawesi, since 1996. Everywhere we stop we have developed interesting land excursions and outstanding diving & snorkelling adventures.
Our cruises are very reasonably priced. We are not luxurious. What we offer is affordable, safe and comfortable, on traditional wooden schooners with modern safety equipment.
Guests on our cruises make life-long friends on our trips, and many are repeat passengers. We would like to invite you to experience a very special holiday, one you will remember forever.
This is the most popular of our cruises. Over 7 days and 6 nights you visit many exciting places including Moyo, Satonda, but especially the Komodo Marine National Park where you see the Komodo Dragons, but also has astonishingly good snorkeling and diving.
You can join the boat either in Gili Trawangan and finish your cruise in Labuan Bajo, or start at Labuan Bajo in Flores and get off the boat in Lombok. The cost of flights is not included in the cost of the cruise.
Whichever direction you choose, this is what you will experience:
Actually it is really called Keramat Island, but one of our guests thought it was Kermit, and the name kind of stuck. This is a good place to break the journey. The island has a lovely white sand beach and clear deep water close by the shore, great for swimming. We usually have a beach barbecue here.
This is one of our most loved destinations because it gives you a glimpse of life in a very simple seaside village. Our guests love to walk through the forest to a deep clear river pool filled by a waterfall. You can grab hold of vines and jump from the rocks into the pool. Women really like washing their hair under the waterfall. In the afternoon we can visit Angel Reef for snorkeling or diving. Later we visit a bat cave which is home to thousands of fruit bats. If we get there at dusk we can see them leaving the cave in great numbers.
A strange and magical place with a sunken volcano crater in the middle. Local people hang offerings on trees in order to get good luck in their lives. The little bay we moor in has deep clear water and on both sides there is good snorkeling right off the boat. Round one of the points is some nice diving and a coral garden directly below the mooring in the bay is home to several frog fish.
Komodo Marine National Park:
We moor near famous Pink Beach, named for the crushed red coral which gives it its pink colour. The snorkeling here is quite remarkable, some truly wonderful coral gardens, and there is a coral bommie that attracts fish by their thousands. We barbecue on Pink Beach. The next morning we visit the ranger station and take a guided walk among the Komodo Dragons and hear horrifying stories of people disappearing, never to be found again.
Islands in the Labuan Bajo archipelago:
Between Komodo and Labuan Bajo are lots of beautiful islands. We will visit Kanawa, and several others according to wind and tides. This whole area is wonderful for diving and snorkeling. We’ll moor near one of them and spend the night there.
This is a thriving little sea port and ferry terminal on the far western tip of the island of Flores. It’s charming in a wild west kind of way. It is here that you will either join the boat or get off. The airport is very close to the town. There are some quite nice hotels with great views over the harbour.
Day 1: The cruise starts from Lombok (Mentigi Bay) or one of the GiliIsland, which offer some of the best snorkeling and diving in Lombok, as well as horse riding and bicycling (these activities are not included in the cost of your cruise.) You will join the boat during the afternoon. At around 3pm we will be departing and during the night we cruise to Moyo.
Day 2: We arrive at Moyo in the morning and we moor at Labuan Haji, an unspoiled traditional village. The local people will guide us to a beautiful pool and small waterfall where we can swim in the clean, clear water. Moyo also has some excellent reefs in front of Labuan Haji. After lunch we can go snorkeling or make some dives. We stay the night in one of the bays of Moyo and make a BBQ on the beach. The same night or very early morning we depart for Satonda Island. (2-3 dives possible)
Day 3: Satonda is an extinct volcano with a sunken crater lake surrounded by jungle. Local people believe Satonda has magical influences and they come to the island and hang offerings on the trees around the Crater Lake in the belief that their dreams will come true. The island is also home to many thousands of fruit bats hanging in the trees. There is very nice swimming and snorkeling and the opportunity for one dive at Satonda. After lunch we depart for Sumbawa. (1 dive possible)
Day 4: In the morning we will arrive to Banta Island, an island in the middle of the ocean with spectacular views over the Komodo National Park. You can go diving and snorkeling in crystal clear water. We leave afternoon to Komodo and spend the night in a quiet bay in the north of Komodo National Park. (2 dives possible)
Day 5: One of the most splendid sites in the park is Gili Lawa Laut: a beautiful bay with crystal clear water and white sandy beach. Here we will spend the day. Some of the best dive sites are located around this island. In the channel south of the island manta rays are often spotted! We will moor at a quiet place to spend the night. (3 dives possible)
Day 6: Depending on the tides we will go with the current into the park. We head to the Ranger Station on Rinca Island. You will go on a guided walk in the national park. You’ll see the dragons, and if you are lucky you may see deer, monkeys, and wild buffalo’s. Back on the boat we’ll have lunch and then do some more excellent snorkeling and diving. We spend the night in the bay of Sebayor Kecil. (2 dives possible)
Day 7: In the morning we can go for some more snorkeling or make another dive. Then we will head back to Labuan Bajo where we check out.
Due to unexpected weather circumstances planned trip can be changed. Especially the program in Komodo National Park is not fixed! Because of very strong currents, our schedule is depending on the tides!
